OLED TV vs Gaming Monitor for PC – Latency, HDR, & Size
In this video I compare using an OLED TV vs a gaming monitor for PC gaming from real-world experience (LG G5 55 inch behind me, plus LG C3, C4, C5, G4, and several Samsung TVs), and break down the trade-offs: monitors are more convenient for desktop use (faster wake, DisplayPort, broad PC compatibility), while TVs deliver far better HDR brightness and impact; at equal refresh rates (e.g., 165 Hz LG G5 vs 165 Hz monitor) input lag/latency is essentially the same, and even with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth/DSC compression I’ve measured no added latency with a 1,000-fps camera. Size and viewing distance matter more than pixel density—think pixels per degree for 4K text clarity—so choose 24, 27, 32, 42, or 55 inches based on your setup (pros on stage should match their 24–27 inch tournament monitors, but at home go with what feels immersive). If you want the highest motion clarity and refresh (240 Hz 4K, 480 Hz+ at 1440p/1080p), a gaming monitor wins; if you want superior HDR, higher peak brightness, and a living-room hub, an OLED TV shines. Pricing can overlap, but flagship TVs can cost 2× more; decide whether you value HDR impact or ultra-high refresh. Personally, I prefer an OLED TV for PC right now, but either path works great—just match your priorities, space, and mount/stand needs.

The fact that you’re saying that LG TVs are quality says that you don’t have a clue what the hell you’re talking about. I used to be a huge LG fan but after having numerous of their TVs have the same issue the refrigerators their dishwashers they’re washing machine everything that they made has been completely crap. I used to get their phones I will never own their phone again ever parents the first thing is the newest TVs that I’ve had the Wi-Fi go out because of the antenna going out and they won’t sell you an antenna to fix it is frustrating
I used to run triple 42-inch TVs as my computer monitors. Now I run dual 55-inch 4K Samsung TVs Lawson in a recliner from about 5 or 6 ft away. I’m still debating back and forth on the monitor because I switched from PC gaming to watching movies to the console and I want to be able to have the best option and it’s going to be noticeable
Even then I’m sure a TV can turn on faster than a PC.
I have oled c5 and Alienware oled 4k monitor tv looks way better pc or console
I’m on a 65″ G6 for a monitor and it is amazing.
